Great White Shark in the North Sea.The Sun reported "Jaws ate seal off Norfolk", the BBC said "Seal was bitten by great white", EDP24 said "Seal bitten by Great White Shark". looks like the media have made their minds up then! The Shark Trust referred to these articles as alarmist but add "that is not to say they cannot occur here." It is interesting that there are many species of shark in the North Sea including Blue Sharks and Threshers but I have only ever seen one big shark in UK waters and that was a harmless Basking Shark. relevant articles are here on this link Make your own mind up.

September, 2007.A very successful trip. That's what the feedback I have received says and its no surprise. When our lot get away together we generally make the best of it and this trip was no exception. Our party of 16 included the two youngest members of the club, Freddie Sibley-Calder (15) and Joseph Hodge (14). There were a couple of over 60's too. In all we did about 75 individual dives. Go here to read about it. More pictures to come in a few days. Mask Squeeze
The effect of a Mask squeeze can be worrying for the victim and the "Count Dracula" look can be pretty scary for onlookers too. Back in February, 2004 an article appeared here showing a mask squeeze. Since then the article has been widely used in training and has also helped reassure affected divers. It is very rare for a diver to actually send in a photograph. Well a few days ago thats what Marcy from Chicago did. Marcy wrote:- "Thanks for your article! It has put my mind at ease. I hadn't been diving in 3 or 4 years and sure enough, I was too preoccupied with my rental BC that I didn't realize that my mask was too tight. My Florida dive buddies reassured me that it was nothing to worry about, but now that I'm back in Chicago, all the strange looks I get has made me a bit nervous."
Thanks Marcy.
The Early Days. Diving photographs and a bit more.

a few others is

Club", the club to which our club owes its roots. These guys dived
with modified gas regulators and any old cylinder they could find! There
is more to come on this subject. |
